Learn M.O.R.E.

M.O.R.E. is not a plan based on concepts Decker Prairie has created. It is a framework for focusing on God’s principles taught in Scripture. The goal is to strengthen faith in Christ and build relationships. God wants us to live in unity as a congregation and develop a natural sense of accountability to each other. Being part of a community of believers encourages individual maturity and creates an upward spiral of growth within the church (Ephesians 4:11-16). This is why God in His wisdom told His people to form local congregations. Come join us on our journey toward a deeper relationship with God!

Mentorship

Mentorship can take various forms. Most often it is a natural relationship formed within the congregation. The connections we make within a local congregation aid in spiritual maturity. “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). The elders at Decker Prairie take their position as spiritual shepherds seriously (1 Peter 1:1-5). At times they personally provide guidance, but they also encourage members of the church to help each other. The Scriptures specifically teach that the older believers should help the younger (Titus 2:1-8). When it comes to new believers, or new members, at Decker Prairie, mentorship provides a safe place to ask Bible questions, or basic questions about Decker Prairie.

Overview of God’s Plan

God’s plan through Christ is revealed from the beginning to the end of Scripture. The Bible is a large and amazing book, but it is not a random collection of books. A lot of believers struggle to understand the story of Scripture. Many have only learned a scattering of verses that may or may not have been used correctly. Some people think they believe in God, but are not sure where to get started in such a big book. This one session overview aims to reveal a big picture view of God’s plan. It is the perfect way to begin a search for truth, or to more fully understand what God is doing in Scripture.

Reflection & Refinement

Yearly Bible reading plans can be intimidating. At Decker Prairie our goal is to make it simple. Each year we provide easy to follow, short weekly readings. Personal Bible reading provides time for much needed reflection. As I read I am able to compare myself to the life promoted in God’s word. Scripture is living and powerful. It is able to convict me of the changes I need to make (Hebrews 4:12). Individual refining also helps the entire congregation (Ephesians 4:11-16). Often our weekly readings find their way into sermons and Bible classes. They provide opportunities for family or friends to discuss important ideas from Scripture.

Equipping

Weekly worship and Bible classes are times we spend honoring God and uplifting each other. Part of God’s plan for the church is that these times also equip believers with a knowledge of God that strengthens their faith. God “gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ…” (Ephesians 4:11-12). Equipping is an intentional, weekly process.
