At the crossroads of life’s superior choice

Life’s greatest decision: spirituality, immortality, welfare of souls Many choose a different path decided by self-will, fleeting pleasure. I know what is best for me and I have fun going this route, the thinking goes.

Choose today whom you will serve, Joshua 24:15, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:19-21. God is a jealous God and has some very real expectations if you choose to serve Him. If you choose someone other than Him, he will do you harm and consume you. How can we develop and maintain a whole heart investment toward God.... know more consistently His holiness....settle into a constant unwavering commitment and be a help to His people? Observations: 1. Acknowledge complete indebtedness and God-dependency. I am not good enough without Him. It’s God’s mercy, His kindness, His salvation that make me who I am. Without the blood of Christ I am nothing. 24:2-13. We have been blessed abundantly despite ourselves.

2. Rehearse constantly what God has done. We need to talk to our kids and others about the things God is doing now, not just in the past. Have you talked to your kids about how the gospel has changed your life and you will never be the same?

3. Fear, serve and put away, vv 14-15. Verse 14 is the recipe for coming to God and then serving Him once we have come to Him. Jos 24:14 "Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD!" 3 elements, fear, serve and put away. James 1:21."Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls."

4. Meet responsibility now, today. It’s always times for revival. Every assembly is a time for revival. There should be an urgency to every day.

5. Follow your spiritual leaders. Verse 31. Younger people are watching you. They need to see faith in us, that our God is real. They need to see consistency in us and that our spirituality is genuine. They need to see it in how you treat them and how you react to your spouse. How many young people have left the church because they saw infighting and bickering? Every assembly places us at the crossroads of choice.

.Jos 24:22 So Joshua said to the people, "You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the LORD for yourselves, to serve Him." And they said, "We are witnesses!" 23 "Now therefore," he said, "put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the LORD God of Israel." 24 And the people said to Joshua, "The LORD our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey!"

Choose today whom you will serve.
