Consider Your Calling
1 Cor 1:18-31 is the text for this lesson.
Remember through whom you were called. We are called, as were the Corinthians, by God Himself. It’s not about who taught you or the eloquence of the speaker, it is about the message.
Remember through what you were called. Rom 1:16. It is the gospel which calls us. 2Tim 1:7-10. It wasn’t anything miraculous, it never has been.
Consider from what you were called. Each of us was a sinner when we were called. 1 Pet 2:9-10, we were called out of darkness into His marvelous light.
And then consider to what you were called. God has expectations of us. We were called for a purpose. Eph 4:1-3. 1 Pet 2:19-21. We have been called to walk in a worthy manner, to emulate Jesus.
God can use us for His purposes regardless of what we think of ourselves. God often uses things the world would consider foolish to accomplish His purposes. We may undersell ourselves and our abilities, not realizing that God can still use us. Each of us can do something in service to God. Any of us can pray for others. Maybe it’s by being an example by persevering through trials. Maybe it’s by helping someone with a small act of kindness, any of us can do that.
So consider your calling.
