Fighting wild beasts or eat, drink and be merry?

1 Cor15:32 - if the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die. Like the rich fool in Luke 12, who built bigger barns so he could then relax but that very night his soul was required of him. The reasoning was if I am not going to be raised, if Jesus was not raised, why am I fighting wild beasts in Ephesus? I may as well eat, drink and be merry. The believer and the atheist - at the very least the believer has a hope beyond this, life. So is there anything beyond the here and now? How sure are you? How sure am I? I am 100% certain there is something beyond this life because God says there is. Phil 2:9-13. God has highly exalted Him and bestowed upon Him the name which is above every name. If Christ has not been raised what in the world are we doing here? Let’s go eat, drink and be merry. 1 Cor 15:19, why should we be most pitied if we believe on His resurrection? 1. Not because living the principles and morality of Christianity are otherwise miserable.

2. Yes, there is self restraint involved, but it is conducive to relationships with others.

3. Living it up sources peril and consequences. Prov 13:15 and 3:5

4. Because he is committed fervently to a lie

You need to ‘know the potential extremes of faithful commitment: 1 Cor 15:32. - you will be tenaciously opposed by an adversary, the devil, who dissuades, discourages and deals destruction

- Pain visits your doorstep, know that God is with you, that it is temporary and it is spiritually survivable.

Or, Pursue the course of your own choosing: - you will still have pain in this world

- Eat, drink and be merry will result in problems at some point down the road

But since we are certain that Jesus is raised, 1 Cor 15:34: Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

Change your behavior, stop sinning. Start new habits.

Psalm 36:3-4,The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good. 4 He devises wickedness on his bed; He sets himself in a way that is not good; He does not abhor evil.

This is what the evil man does.

Are you on a path lately that is not good, that is taking you down the wrong road?

Conclusion: There is value to serving the Lord, far beyond eat, drink and be merry.

Be awake spiritually to the knowledge of God that is within you.

1 Cor 16:13-14, Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.

14 Let all that you do be done with love.
