It’s not about me, what suites me,how I feel or what works for me.
Heb 7:23-28: the infinite redeemer. It was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, un-defiled, separated from sinners and exalted. He offered up Himself once for all. He always lives to make intercession for us. Acts 4:5-12: no other name. Let it be known that by the name of Jesus Christ this man stands before you healed. Verse 12, there is salvation in no one else. There is no other name given under heaven that can save man. Eph 1:21: He is far above every name that shall be named, now and in the age to come. He has even given as head over all things, has all power and authority.
Observations: 1. Charismatic people are not the draw. People change churches a lot these days, unable to find what they are looking for. Preaching needs to be an attempt to reach the heart, to stoke the fires of passion. It is not about the one who delivers the message it is about the heaters and their relationship to the king.
2. Christlike caring people are not the draw. Yes, that is important. Even if people see in us that we are the people of God, that is also not often enough. It is about so much more.
3. The draw is the Savior. He only has the power to produce effective change. If you want to defeat sin in your life, you need to understand it is your connection to Him that will do it.
John 12:32. Salvation is in His name and that alone, on the basis of all He accomplished, on the basis of all that He is. Mt 28:18-20.
Peace in Jesus name, Acts 10:34-43.
What’s exciting to you? Going to Disneyworld? Summer on the horizon? Only one thing should be, the name above all names, the one who provides salvation which no one else does.
