Proving God's Will in 2019

One year ago, when ringing In the year 2018, we looked at Col 2:4 and that what we believe matters, when it says that may no one delude you with persuasive argument. Colossians is all about the superiority of Christ. In verse 5 he thanks them for the stability of their faith and then encourages them to walk in Him, being firmly rooted and built up in the faith.

We must follow His voice. There are contrary voices everywhere trying to woo us away from the truth. John 10:27, my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me.

Oaks of righteousness, Isa 61:3. To grant those who mourn in Zion the oil of gladness instead of mourning. And they shall be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, so that He might be glorified.

So we’ve made it through another year. How is our oak doing? Are we still firmly planted?

Gal 3:26-27. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. This is a reminder for them, and us, to keep, ourselves clothed in Christ .

Eph 4:14-15, hope that stands in the storm. Can it be said of us that we are an oak of righteousness, a tree planted?

Rom 12:2, be transformed by the renewing of your mind so you may be able to test and approve what God’s will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will. That’s what oaks of righteousness do.

What should we pursue in 2019 as oaks of righteousness?

1. Commit to assembling, because God is deserving, because I will be enriched by being there and will influence the other oaks

2. Bible reading and daily prayer. We will be reading only Proverbs this year so we can spend more time focusing on each verse. Let’s get 100% participation.

3. Choose a person to serve weekly, to communicate with and pray for.

How do you see yourself? As a mighty and majestic oak? We sang I Shall Not be Moved.

3 things we need:

Abiding confidence

Abiding hope

Abiding effort
