1 Chron 15:13 Seeking failure as it relates to failing to seek the Lord. In 1 Chron. 15 in the transportation of the ark, Uzzah is struck dead by reaching out his hand to try to prevent the ark from falling. And it was because, in verse 13, they did not seek God. Thereafter the ark was carried it as they were told to so.
In 2 Chron 12:14 is another failure to seek the Lord. Rehoboam did not set his heart to seek the Lord.
2 Chron. 14:4, 15:2, Asa told that if he will seek God you will find Him, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. 16:7-12. For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro about the earth to strongly support those whose heart is completely His. Asa told by the seer that he acted foolishly in this regard. Asa got angry with the seer and threw him in prison. He never did seek the Lord from that point on until his death.
This speaks to our dependency upon God, the intimacy of our relationship with Him and the constancy of our seeking.
Is your day to day life characterized by seeking the Lord? Seeking is a theme found throughout the Bible.
Why don’t people seek Him?
They don’t believe. They may say they do, but not enough to seek him.
They don’t believe He is really there.
They’re not convinced that prayer does anything.
We may not seek because we take God for granted.
We turn everywhere in desperation but to Him.
Who or what are you dependent upon other than God?
So, why should you seek the Lord?
1. Because only God has unlimited resources. Nothing is beyond His control
2. God only gives what is good
3. You will be satisfied
4. Because those who seek Him understand everything, everything that matters, everything pertaining to eternal life and godliness
5. God is reliable and dependable
6. He is a refuge and a rescuer
7. Those who walk in His ways will find everlasting joy
And He provides so much more.
Deut 4:29, But from there you will seek the Lord and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.
Maybe your life has been a failure to this point or you are in a rut; the great news is it’s not final. You can still seek Him.
