Summing Up
Matt 28:16-20. Post crucifixion and resurrection. Appearances mainly to His closest followers. The information is very brief but quite powerful. In summary, it puts in a capsule the essence of what Christianity is.
Eph. 1:10. 1 Pet 3:8 are other passages that relate to summing up who Jesus was and who He now is. Peter days we need to be harmonious with one another, kind hearted and humble. Rom 13:9 another verse with a summing up which says love your neighbor as you love yourself. Observations from Matt 28:
Jesus is king. How comforting is that in times of trouble and uncertainty? Matt 6:33. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Jesus is the stability of our times.
Make disciples. Teach and encourage people to be learners. Help them understand Jesus is king.
Everyone needs Him.
Baptism in name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit required to become a disciple. This is an example of synecdoche. A part stands for the whole. The word baptism stands for all of the steps required to be saved - hear, believe, confess and repent. This is just the beginning though....
Walking with the king, a lifetime journey. There is a lot to learn and digest and apply to our lives.
And lastly, He is with us always.
Ecc. 12:13-14 sums up the whole of man. Fear God and keep His commandments.
