Through Jesus Then...

Heb 10:35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.

This is a hinge statement in the book, building on what precedes it and setting the table for what follows.

Do we possess this confidence?

We will need to have endurance verse 36 says...

In Hebrews 13:1-8 is another summary statement - Jesus is always the same. In our ever-changing world, one thing we can rely upon - Jesus hasn’t changed.

Heb 13;15-16 is another summary statement and what we will focus on this morning. Heb 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.  16 But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Through Him then... is really a summary of the whole book. On the basis of His name. What does that mean?  It means He has an unrivaled place in the universe, a place that is exalted, a place that will endure.

1. It means it is on the basis of His accomplishments that His name is so great. What is it that He has accomplished? After providing the purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Father, no one else has done that. He was crowned with glory and honor because of what He suffered. Heb. 9:24-26: he is a sacrifice once for all time.

2. It also means His character is unrivaled. Heb.3:2,6. Heb. 5:8-9, His character and accomplishments together. Heb. 10:7, a perfect description of His character. Heb 10:7 Then I said, 'Behold, I have come--In the volume of the book it is written of Me--To do Your will, O God.'"

3. Beyond his accomplishments and His character is His assistance - He comes to the aid of the tempted. Heb. 4:14-16.

4. And also His judgment. He will be our judge, fair and impartial.

Through Him then... how should we respond? We should be erumpent, or bursting forth. We should burst forth in praise! It doesn’t get any better than this. We can share with others as He has shared with us! Do not neglect doing good and sharing!

Heb 13:20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
