No other gospel, Gal. 1:1-12
Gal 1:6, Paul amazed at how quickly the churches in Galatia had deserted Jesus. Too many today are deserting Him.
Our message matters. The message we share with others matters. It is the truth which sets us free.
Heaven is the end goal, what is the starting point? How does salvation work?
No other name, Acts 4:5-12. What does that mean? Jesus has no rival in any other realm. Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved. He alone sits at God’s right hand. He is the foundation for everything.
And then, it’s all about our response to Him. John 3:1-17. It’s more than just believing. The starting point, then, is acknowledging Him as Lord and Savior and then responding to Him in faith. Faith is the basis for everything in our salvation. Heb. 11:6. When we start with baptism first, we’re putting the cart before the horse.
We need to emphasize Jesus' role in salvation. Faith is the starting point. Repentance won’t happen unless people are convinced Jesus is worth the sacrifice. Repentance is fueled by faith, no one repents without it.
And then confession of your faith must be made. Our allegiance to Christ must be public. Because of our faith we say we believe that Jesus is the Christ.
And then comes baptism. Baptism is the result of faith. But once you’re baptized, you are not done. This is an ongoing relationship.
So what pulls the cart? My confidence in Jesus does. Jesus is the King and He is my king. What does that mean? I believe His words are life giving and the ultimate wisdom for living.
With His fellowship, I am sustained and blessed. There is no better quality of living.
Walking in His light eventuates in glory.
Jesus is coming back, what will He find in you?
